Activities!!Meetings – The club meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm. There is a short business meeting and a 30 minute program. The meeting location is normally in Grapevine, TX. Click here for next meeting info The programs are all about Dobermans(!) and range in topics from health information to Search & Rescue. Check out some of our plans for upcoming programs! Email the club secretary, Beth Athey to let us know you’re coming and to confirm the location! Conformation Shows - The club holds an AKC-licensed show with conformation, obedience and now Rally twice a year. Our first show was held on November 17, 1957. Our next show will be in March 2009. Contact Show Chairman, Dina Sellers for more information regarding the show. National Specialty - The 2007 Doberman Pinscher Club of America National Specialty will be in Fitchburg, MA this fall. Educational Seminars DPCD normally hosts AKC Obedience and Rally Judging Seminar every three years. Our next planned seminar will be in the spring of 2009. Brags – We love to brag on our dogs' accomplishments!! If you have a new brag, please send it to Julie. Newsletters - A monthly newsletter for members or prospective members is published. It contains the minutes from the last meeting, a letter from the President, list of upcoming activities, and usually a grooming hint or two! If you would like to receive a copy of our newsletter, contact Beth Athey. WAE – The club sponsors a Working Aptitude Evaluation test every year after the March conformation show. Start training your dogs now. The next WAE testing date will be on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at North Lakes Park in Denton, TX. For more information click here. Rescue – The DPCD actively supports the Doberman Rescue of North Texas (DRNT). DRNT rescues unwanted Dobermans who have been abandoned at local animal shelters. The dogs get medical attention and lots of TLC from the volunteers while prospective adopters are evaluated. Please see their website for more information. Membership Picnic - On April 23, 2005, we will again have a membership picnic at Lake Grapevine. This year the topic will be tracking. Family members and of course dogs are welcome. Last year, we held our May membership meeting we had a picnic at the lake with special guests from WET DOG demonstrating canine water rescue. After the demonstration, some of our dogs gave it a try! Click here for pictures. Individual Activities - Many of our members participate with their dogs in obedience, agility, flyball, tracking and many other activities.
